Penguin C Mk2 UAS


Penguin C Mk2 small unmanned aircraft can carry larger payloads, has longer endurance, longer radio link range. The Mk2 is optimized for gyro-stabilized day and night payloads up to 4 kg (9 lb) in weight.

The aircraft has customized payload integration with quickly swappable nose concept. Penguin C Mk2 has the endurance of up to 25 hours and the radio link range of 180 km. The aircraft MTOW is 24.9 kg (54.9 lb) in Group 2 configuration and 28 kg (61.7 lb) in Group 3 configuration.

If equipped with advanced Epsilon EO/IR payloads, Penguin C Mk2 is one of the most capable surveillance and inspection UAS available on the market.

Field-swappable payload

Penguin C Mk2 has a unique swappable nose concept which allows the field replacement of payloads within seconds. The swappable nose has an integrated motor that adds additional roll stabilization to the payload as well as protects the payload during recovery. The swappable payload concept allows customers to conveniently integrate custom payloads into the Penguin C Mk2.


A crew of two can operate the Penguin C Mk2 UAS and all the necessary equipment, including the pneumatic launcher. The whole system, packed in several ruggedized containers, weighs up to 265 kg (585 lb), can be transported in a single minivan, pickup, or helicopter and assembled in under an hour.

Portable Pneumatic Catapult features a rugged aluminium structure, which can be disassembled into one man-portable transportation case.

The use of a sophisticated parachute/airbag recovery system eliminates the need for bulky equipment such as a landing net or landing wire and provides a very soft landing, thus reducing the risk of damage to the aircraft or payload in case of both planned and emergency landings.


In addition, Penguin C MIL UAS uses a proprietary algorithm that estimates the parachute landing point based on a number of flight conditions and allows for controlled aircraft recovery in a small designated area.

9000 hours

Flight tested

UAV Factory’s flight operations team has flight-tested Penguin C Mk2 for over 9000 hours to ensure its reliability and robustness in normal to severe weather conditions. 


Thanks to the UAV Factory’s own state-of-the-art electronic fuel injected (EFI) engine, the Penguin C Mk2 flight endurance is up to 25.5 hours. The cooling system provides the ability to operate from below freezing point to extremely hot conditions. Before delivery, each engine is tested extensively in UAV Factory’s engine testing cell to maximize its reliability and efficiency.

The EFI engine comes built into a swappable propulsion module than can be changed in minutes, allowing for uninterrupted operation of the aircraft system while maintenance could be performed on a second module.

Payload options

Penguin C Mk2 is available with the Epsilon series of advanced micro-gimbals developed by Octopus ISR Systems, a division of UAV Factory. Epsilon gimbals provide advanced observation, inspection, and surveillance capabilities, such as day and nighttime object tracking and small moving target indication.

The Penguin C Mk2 is also available for purchase with an empty payload bay, and it comes with all documentation necessary to perform payload integration. This provides an option to integrate third-party payloads using standard connections based on specific project needs.

For powering the payload, customers can use the onboard 6V, 12V and 24V power supply. For payload control and real-time video, customers can use an integrated data link Ethernet and serial pass-through with a rate of up to 12 Mbps.
